Hen Squawking Loudly

Ms. Rose wanders the yard for approximately half hour to two hours making this noise intermittently. She’s 3.5 and has a history of eggbinding. She has been laying recently - maybe two times a week. She has oyster shell at her disposal. What’s going on? She just started about a couple weeks ago (about the same time she started laying again).

I once had an ancona hen who screamed every day inside the coop at the other hens as they laid eggs. It sounded similar. I would have to run her off so the others could concentrate. She laid eggs almost daily.

I do have a couple other hens that make this noise too, but not as long. Or as loud.

So you think she’s fine, just noisy?

I have a couple hens who do this when someone is in "their" nest spot. I also have a girl who, before we got a rooster, would make this same yell at our back door until someone either came outside to escort her to the nest box or she couldn't wait any longer
