Yes. Not top SQ, but definitely breeder quality. Competition in the Whites is very stiff.

I think that "red" one is a partridge with the contrast bumped up in Photoshop. I looked at their site and they don't show any red silkies on it. There is one very pale buff bumbling around in the background of one photo, but they are not showcasing any line of red, which they certainly would be doing if they had reds that deep that looked that good. Plus, if you look close, you can see the grizzled look of partridge in the plumage. If it was red, it would be more uniform colored, or that is my opinion, just saying...

Do you have a coop and run for them yet? Keep looking around at different pictures of silkies. What really looks good to you. Look for a few shows to go to, find you a good breeder. Do you have any other chickens. What colors do you like? How many colors do you want? Will you have room for different coops and runs? CA has some good breeders. Look at ther websites, see what they have.

That's what I have been thinking about lately. I have decided to breed Bantam Cochins in blue, black, and splash, and Silkies in blue, black, and splash but I currently have 2 Buff eggs in the incubator so I may breed Buffs too. I'm also going to breed Magpie ducks so I can sell their eggs to the local Asian markets. I am moving into a new house in the next 2 weeks and it already has 2 coops with runs built and 1 run set up without a coop and a shed with a swamp cooler that I'm going to use as a storage area/brooder/coop for hot summers. I think I'm going to go to the woman with the Craigslist ad and get 2 SQ Silkie chicks and 2 SQ Bantam Cochin chicks and 6 B/B/S Silkie eggs and 6 B/B/S Cochin eggs and then go from there. How does that sound?

I'm aware. I just meant the chicks that the breeder has evaluated as potential show quality. She has rated them as excellent, with no visible faults at the time of evaluation.
