Now that I see the tail from the side I am reconsidering my opinion! What made my SLW roo obvious (Other than that he was crowing at four weeks!) was that this tail ran up and down hid back instead of back and forth in a fan like a hens dose and also the shape of his feather tips was different from all my hens. And it's true that most all hens do carry their feather high sometimes This is the first time
I have had never had either GLW or SLW before but I did notice that the rose/comb (or rather the spot where it will some day grow) on this breed seemed to get pink/red at about an month. All our usual breeds, RIR, Maran, Orpington and Wellsummer hens had yellow combs at that point. Our Maran and Buff Orp "almost" pullets still have pale combs at 16 wk
