At two days no development will be seen by candling. Generally you candle the first time at 7 days

Even if they mated successfully immediately it would be two days following his arrival before potentially fertilized eggs would start to be layed.

Sorry if I missed something here but are you trying to incubate or have a broody duck/hen?

If you're trying to incubate, no expert here but putting them in the incubator for 2 days and candle them, it's pretty obvious, you'll see vessels and a little sack very quickly. The ones that aren't are still viable for breakfast... no waste here.

I would think you should wait a week for fertilized eggs after rooster goes in
