hello!

We are so anxiously awaiting our first egg from someone, anyone in the coop! I am hoping we are getting close. Several of the girls seem much more relaxed and willing to be handled, but that could also be because the last of the roosters are now gone and the coop is quiet.

Do any of my girls look close in your opinion? Barred Rocks are just about 19 weeks and the Buffs are closer to 20 weeks.

Thanks!

All but the bottom right are showing redness of face and wattles. If you find them investigating the nest boxes, or submissively squatting when you approach them, they are both usually a good sign that they will lay soon.

Also, before you got rid of the rooster, did you notice him mating w/ any of them? I noticed that my girls started submitting to the cockerels about a week before they laid their first egg.
