Are they Marans?

I have 3 rescue hens. One, I know is a BR; the others, I can't pin down.

color: glossy black with a bottle-green sheen, some copper lacing on throat
comb: large single
egg color: dark brown, but not REALLY dark
legs: clean
eyes: black
skin: pale
"personality": very chatty, like to roost

Are they Marans? Any other ideas?

Good description---what color are the legs? So far, I'd say Marans or black sex-links.

Their skin is sort of "pasty" -- like a dark-haired guy's legs the first time he wears shorts in the summer. Not their best feature!

Sounds to me like you could have yourself a black copper Marans hen. Just the clean legged variety. Good for you!
