Are we doing everything right?

We took her to the vet today and he said that stitches or staples in the area would be useless since there's much movement. The wounds are where her wing connects to her body. He said topical treatments should do just fine and keep her isolated. Amelia has answered my question about whether she'll lay or not. We opened her box when we got home to clean her wounds again and presto! a white egg in the box! I'm not sure nor concerned if she'll continue to lay. I just want her to heal. Hopefully she learned her lesson but in the mean time we gotta figure a way to make the fence harder to get over.

I'm sure you are glad to know you were doing things right, and that she should recover. Yes, keeping chickens inside the yard is very difficult since they always want to explore other areas. I lost one and two others got roughed up getting over my fence into my own yard. We had to use a shock collar on the offender with the dead chicken in front of him, but he won't go near chickens any more. That probably wouldn't work on your neighbor's dog, LOL. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Still trying to find a way to make the fence harder to get over. The thing is is that she doesn't do it everyday, just periodically. She's become more talkative since yesterday and laid her egg. We'll take her out to roam today.
