Are we Pied India Blues?

It does seem like he is the only good breeder in Australia if you read the forum... but then it is his forum:D
The prices are high but that might be because peacocks are harder to get there? I know I pay more for my birds here in Canada and I am only 1 1/2 hours drive to the US. As much as I want a white male peacock I would never pay the $500 they are asking
As to the pictures of the pieds, I like them. I thought that they had to be a certain % of white to be pied and then a certain percentage over that to be silver pied, of course now I am looking I can't find the web site.

Pied carry the pied and white gene.

Silver pied carry the white and pied gene plus the white eye gene.Without the W.E. gene no silver pieds.

Irene , come to the states and pick up some peafowl eggs in the new colors. Should be able to take peafowl eggs home to eat

Jim , cost for shipping peachick alot cheaper , 4 birds 3 months old 65.00.

You can get a adult pr. ship for about the same as a single adults. 3 yearling , or older pr plus a yearling.

good to know i was going of what they wanted for shipping a 2 yearold male they did say the hen was not much more.what are you going to have for 3 month old chicks in the fall deer man any cool colors debbie wants to go with alot of differant birds to get some good colors going.

There are quite a few different varieties of peafowl at the moment available overseas but we can’t bring them in AU . And we don’t get a chance to see these beautiful newly colour birds. You are right Irene any birds apart of real blue is expensive, so we happy to pay. I have been contacting AQIS ( quarantine service) few times but the only answer I received was "Sorry it is prohibited, you can’t bring them in”. You can’t even bring home peafowl eggs to eat.

Silver pied carry the white and pied gene plus the white eye gene. Without the W.E. gene - it is not silver pied. How we can get WHITE EYE GENE, and how this gene appears in a first place? Can anybody help me to understand?

The first white eye show up in the 70s, by a guy name Ernie West, breeders add it to the blue pieds , then about 1994 was bred to the white and produced the first silver pied.

AU is hard to get birds into or even out...I send some rare color peacock train feathers to a BYC member, they had to go thru quarantine !!!!

Just takes one parent to be white eye to get white eye chicks, it is co-dom.

I had thought about that but I don't think I could disguise the eggs as chickens eggs from the supermarket, they are too big and I think the penalty for knowingly smuggling hatching eggs wouldn't be worth it.
I have told my husband I want 2 years experience with the "cheap" colours and then I would like to import some of the new colours out there as day olds. I would like to make my mistakes on stuff I didn't pay a fortune for. The big hatcheries McMurrays, Ideal, Holderreades etc all ship day olds to bordertowns for import into Canada. You just pay the $65 for the heath papers and drive to the US bordertown post office pick them up and recross the border. I am hoping that some peafowl breeders also offer this service. Do you Deerman?
