After seeing hostel I exited the theatre and sat by the bathrooms sobbing for several minutes. Stuff like that really shakes me up. I'm fine with ghost and stuff, like the grudge or zombie movies, because I know that isn't real. But people hurting eachother is often all too real, and I feel that if someone can think it up and make a movie about it, than somewhere out there, there could very well be someone actually doing it.
But yes, stormhorse, I do think blood is rather attractive. Most chickens would agree with you, as well, because once they catch sight of a bit of it, they can't leave it alone. It just means you're a chicken at heart
I prefer cerebral horror movies, ones that build tension, suspense, make you wonder what will happen next. All those "cut 'em up" with saws, knives, kill as many people in 2 hours as possible do nothing for me other than gross me out.
So I suppose you could call me squeamish. I can turn on the news and see what real people are doing to each other if I want to be grossed out. And as for killers returning from the dead, it's laughable. How can that scare anyone? You know he/it's gonna come back and get you, how many minutes it's going to take is about all the suspense you get.
I'll stick with movies like Alien, The Spiral Staircase, etc.
One of the best classic thriller movies IMO is Poltergeist. When I was little, that movie always scared the pants off of me. Especially the part with the clown and the monster tree!
ok here is a bit of horror movie triva for you -- the two guys who play in Sean of the dead are huge fans of the " dead" movies - so the guy who made the movie Land of the dead - turned the two guys from sean of the dead into a couple of zombies - if you watch the movie look for the two zombies that are chained up next to each other with people taking thier pictures - that will be good old sean of the dead guys.
now I have given you my horror film knowledge - go out into the world and tell eveyone LOL
