Colie <3 :
It pipped maybe 40+ minutes ago...maybe not even that long ago. I'll try to go to bed and
that it hatches!! I haven't opened the incubator since I put it in lockdown. It still is halfway full of water so I hope it doesn't run out!
Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :
Hey guys/gals I have a question. 2/4 eggs have pipped in my Brinsea, one has pipped at the right end ( fat end ) and the other has pipped in the wrong end ( the pointy end )..what should I do? Why did the chick pip in the wrong end? I have never had this happen before.
I had one last batch pip on the wrong end. It hatched just fine just took it a lot longer. The batch before that I had one pip and start to zip at the wrong end them completely stop. 24 hours later I couldn't take it anymore and helped it out by zipping the rest and starting to "pop the top". It's membrane had started to really dry out and was resembling paper so I doubt it would have made it out by itself. I did my best to wet the dried membrane then put it back in the bator. It ended up hatching and is a healthy chick now. I think they drying of the membrane was from humidity fluctuations from me opening the bator to pull out the already dried chicks who were playing soccer with the egg in question. Not to say you should help the chick out and assist the hatch it's just what I decided to do when the cheeping and movement completely stopped for 12+ hours. So for now sit on your hands for as long as possible, it probably will have a harder time manuevering around in the limited space but it still has a chance to hatch on it's own. Keep the humidity up, don't open the bator like I did! The baby chickies will be fine in there for up to three days. Hope this helps
