Coturnix pens only need to be about 12" from floor to ceiling; otherwise they can break necks when they startle, as they tend to jump straight up.

for the both of us! what are you running your humidity at? i'm running 55 the 1st 25 days then upping it to 80-85 for hatching. hoping this produces a better hatch than my last duck egg hatch attempt were none hatched.
this site was given to me by the person i bought the eggs from
http://ahdc.vet.cornell.edu/sects/duck/hatcduck.html

I just hatched 15/16 Rouen duck eggs and ran my humidity at 40-45% days 1-25, and then upped it to 70-75% at hatch time. Had a 93% hatch rate, so not complaining! The one that didn't make it had zipped but never poked a hole in the membrane, so it smothered before I realized what was happening.

with the first batch i ran last month i ran the humidity like you 45 days 1-25 and 75 for hatch. i had 2 pip and die before they zipped and the other 5 eggs had 3 internal pip and die and 2 that didnt do a thing. the 2 that pipped had absorbed their yolk and everything and the others that internally pipped i believe looked to also have absorbed. it was very upsetting because they had done so well up till then. all the eggs were shipped and all that were set developed to lockdown. i didn't open the incubator once lockdown started until the no hatch was over for fear of letting out the humidity.
this time of the 8 eggs shipped 5 look to be developing well and 3 i am not too sure on.

And I'm loving sitting back LOL.

All 8 of my duck eggs are viable, this day 7. only 3 more weeks to go. Moved my Mar 12 hatch out to the barn this morning- they have lots more room and the chooks and ducks are curious at the peeps!

I am a bit worried, I see no movement and don't here a tjirping noise either, today is day 20. I was wondering for those who use the mini advanced bator, I filled both tray's but almost need to fill them again, how do you do that?I mean there's a bit left in it but by tomorrow it will be empty do I refill today or not?

San, I have the mini advance and it recovers temp and humidity very quickly. I would just fill the pots up nice and quick and not worry about it. Also, don't worry so much about not seeing movement or hearing peeping. I didn't see or hear anything my first hatch and got 100%. Good luck!

Hm little problem the bator is in my BF daughters room, the childeren are here sometimes and the youngest just called asking if she can come over to see her Dad, no problem. Can I move the bator quickly to another room? That would be a 5 min power loss? Because it's now on a shelf with an extencion cable from on side to another side of her room. Ain't she needs to put her bag and stuff in the room?
