i want to do that this winter when we get our wood stove put in..
i want to set a pan or whatever on the wood stove and have it going all the time... I wonder about the pan melting though..

Find an old cast iron pot or even stainless steel. Won't melt

You're so lucky you're getting a woodstove put in! I want one that I can cook on!

RED HEN: i bought a cast iron one from the thrift shop but i have used stainless steel for a long time before that just remember to keep the water topped up

OOO I did that with christmas tree pieces smells great..But I left it on and went out oops!!! Burned a whole right threw my pot

eeek... Yes, keep water in said pot!
I remember a friend of mine did this on her electric stove. Let it get down to nothing and burned it. It was a teflon pan too, smelled HORRIBLE!
