X2 and she lived 11 months? That is amazing, she must have been a very strong little girl. I'm sorry that you had to go through a year of pain. It sounds like she lived those 11 months surrounded by love though, bless you and your family.

But would taking the child home to die there cause the child a lot of pain without medication to at least make the death less painful? Maybe they need to be in the hospital to die to insure constant treatment to ease pain.
I am not saying this is the case I am just wondering if maybe that is what is happening?

Their reasoning is that the tracheotomy could possibly open him up further to infection and pneumonia, making him suffer even more. The doctors did a trach on his sister many years ago, reluctantly. The story I posted says that. I understand that side, but this is their child. He does not belong to the government.

To be the devil's advocate though, they are asking the tax payers to perform a surgery on the child so the child could die at home and possibly suffer more in the process?
It is a hard decision. I am not on either side here and I can see the reasonings on both sides.

It still does not make sense..... A trach is a pretty simple operation, you or I could do it.

I feel for the family.. Too bad they have to be subected to the international spotlight with the FOX political propoganda machine....

I'm sure all the other news channels do political propoganda too.

That reminds me, (off topic I know) I think It's MSNBC that now has their version of Rush Limbaugh, for democrats. When Is aw that I just smacked my forehead. Just what we need. More shouting extremists.

I kinda find it a bit offensive someone comparing a hospital not giving a child a surgery to Hitler killing millions of children, gypsies, gays and *ahem* Jews.

Not the same. Really.

And soooo not Mengel's work, either.

This is a tragedy, but compared to the Holocaust, really?

I thought that too, I had read it before you but I never said anything, glad you did.

Lessee, I've got two words for y'all. MESSED. UP.

But as far as the comparason from the last page: Yes and no. The Holocause was similar, just on a MUCH larger scale. A child dying is a child dying, no? Lack of care is lack of care. And the Holocaust was def. lack of care.
Just my 2 cents.
