(shhhhh!!!!! I have a rooster, but he's sweeter and friendlier than some of my hens! He's my second favorite only to River, but don't tell him that.

when we became a city of our own I was told--not legal.
Told them I was here first --grandfather me in..have medical
need for them..said they would have to talk to their lawyers....
its been over 2 years..... As far as I am concerned I am now legal.

Roos a nono but taught my Bobby to come indoors if the need to crow arises. HE DOES!!

Wow, silky ma! WHAT a neat thing to teach your roo! You could probably make some good $ on that if you held classes!

I posted "outlaw" but my immediate next door neighbor knows about them - loves the idea and is waiting for eggs as much as I am. 19 weeks old yesterday. My husbands birthday is today- so it would be a nice present for him for a first egg:)

we were legal until yesterday. The city council outlawed the chickens. Now they are fugitives. I wonder if they can be grandfathered in??

Legal, but I think there needs to be a third response which is "Uhhhh, there are laws?" or simply "I haven't bothered to find out."

My girls are MOSTLY legal.

Their coop is supposed to be 50' from all neighbor's homes, but I have it sitting within 40 ' of the neighbor who really likes having them (and the free eggs) around. She knows that the coop is too close to her house, but does not care to this point. Those "free" eggs sure do buy a lot of friends.

I can move the coop further from her house if a problem ever arises, but it has been hot here this summer and that corner of the yard has the best shade. Since the neighbor does not mind, I will probably move the coop to this part of the yard each summer now.

Also, according to local ordinances the chickens are supposed to live in an enclosed space. When I am home the chickens are out in the yard. I only lock them in the coop at night and if I need to leave the house during the day.
