http://vacres.tripod.com/id12.html I bet they would tell me she is too old to sale. I'm being very picky who I sale her to because she really is an Angel who saved my life one day. I wish we did not have to sale her at all but we can't afford hay for 5 horses this winter.

When I was a kid, I worked hours and hours to earn my riding lessons and I would clean tack and muck stalls for the snobby horse-owning girls and they would NEVER ONCE allow me to ride their horses. I can't believe it! I have one thick percheron (saved from a PMU farm) who thinks he is a person and he is hilarious. You'd love him. He bows and gives kisses. I also have two gorgeous black and white paints. All of them are friendly and loving. C'mon!

Oh!!! How I wish... sounds absolutely lovely. I used to care for our neighborhood horses when people went on vacation (YEARS ago) and I've only ridden once since moving to AK... I love it... why do you have to live so far away???

Isn't it more precisely, why do YOU live so far away? LOL. Isn't Alaska pretty far from almost everyone?

Well, if you ever come to the NYC area, let me know. I can even trailer them to meet you so you can pet as much as you want! Especially that very soft spot on the tip of the nose.

Wish you were closer, too. It's hard to make animal loving friends when you live in Long Island!!

Yes, horses are spendy. Hay is now $200 to $250 per ton in my area and it's grown in my backyard, literally!

Can I get hay from you? I just bought the cheapest hay I have found in three years at $295/ton. USUALLY it is almost $10/bale...$340/ton here. Grain is running $16/bag. Yearly shots, $350/horse. Trims $60/horse.

You have three horses? How many months do you feed, or are you feeding year 'round? I have five horses and we usually feed from mid-Sept through May 1st.

I feed year round. We have very little property and it's sandy. No pasture. So, they get grain and hay all of the time. I actually had a strongyles problem and ended up taking horses upstate (NY) for the last summer and they were in heaven on 50 acres of pasture. This year they look at the ground....look at me, as if to say, "Mom, can we go back to sleep-away camp this year again?"

Wish I had more space...the bad part of living in the suburbs!
