Are your geese done laying for the year?

IMO I'd leave them for about the 10-14 days then check for fertility. Your trying to get her to go set but don't want any stink bombs to explode.

So it will have to be a balancing act I'm afraid

edited to add.. if they aren't fertile I wonder if your gonna have to substitute the eggs for another week or so

Well I may have a bit of news, Today I let mama duck bring her ducklings out for their first field trip, all went well except Missy and Sammy wanted the ducklings, anyway, Sammy finally got the picture and backed off but Missy just didn't understand why she could not have those ducklings, so after I had to make to go away for the 3rd time she went into her house and laid on her eggs, and hasn't been back out since. So either she just all of a sudden went broody or she is sulking or she is getting ready to lay again.

Scratch the part about her sulking not sure on the broody part but she laid # 59, after she didn't come back outside since early afternoon, I went in and had to pick her up to see if she would eat and drink. She really didn't do either just stood around looking lost, then after about 15 min went back in and got on her eggs. I hope she is okay.

Oh my gosh Miss Lydia she is just pushing herself way out there laying all those eggs! With her only being a year old I am as I said worried about her. With her laying this many eggs she is just eating all the calcium out of her bones. Poor Missy.

I know RURU but what can I do? I was so hoping since she was inside all afternoon she had finally gone broody.

I am very worried about her. Tomorrow I get to go to Walmart for the bird mix your suggesting in the meantime I am feeding her kale and coral calcium in her water. She is acting fine and looking good so just hoping for the best. And praying too.

I would like to think that Missy is perfectly fine, but has a very strong instinct to hatch babies. Now that she is getting a full clutch, I believe she will go broody.

her eggs are fertile and she can have a much earned baby gosling (or two) to raise.

By the way, Beignet decided to start up again this week after taking a few weeks off, and has laid 2 new eggs so far.

Hey J glad to see you here. Well Missy came out for a bit this morning then went back in and has been sitting ever since. 8 eggs now so maybe that was the right # for her.
