Aren't chickens suppose to eat flies?

I couldn't find that trap anywhere. Can anyone recommend a trap that doesn't smell like decomp? I've got a strong nose and can't handle the smell that comes from the Rescue traps.

My chickens try and try, but never can seem to catch a fly.

Maybe they catch some when I'm not looking!

Next time I'm somewhere that has them, I'm definitely going to get some of the vanilla trees.

You have animals that poo you will have flies. All you can do is try and limited the numbers, a clean coop is the biggest deterant and followed by the many other suggestions in this post.

I don't mind the house flies so much as those dang deer flies (that's what we call them), you know the ones that BITE!!!!!!!!!!!

I found some fly bar things with sex attractant at my vet supply place. In ten minutes they were solid black with flys. Have finally found something to keep down the population! I wish chickens did eat flys I could cut back on my feed bill!

Depends on if they can catch the little buggers!!!!

I'm trying DE. I also have a liquid fly trap. For $35 there is a fly zapper and the flies drop out the bottom. Then the chickens could eat them. Though, not sure if I want my eggs containing that many fly particles. Blech! Ha ha. Anyway, the liquid stuff works well, but gets expensive. I'll let you know how DE works for us. Just went out and sprinkled it for the first time.

They are called Fly Stick. They are about 2 feet long with a little cup on the end to pour the attractant in and a little hook on the other end for hanging. Warning!!! They are extremely sticky! Backed in to one the other day and like to have never got it off my butt! Then not five minutes later got one hanging in the barn stuck to my hair! It was a sticky nightmare!

I have found they do better closer to the ground where more flys are than hanging higher, which explains how I backed into one.
