Welcome to the Arizona Chickaholics Group! Start building the extra coop now. I know you may not think you need it now but hanging out with this group will change that. We are all enablers!

HI...

I hope the chicks are doing well, you bought them from me. All of my silkies are PQ only.....I did tell you that and I hope that you are still enjoying them

PQ? Pet Quality? (sorry to butt in...)

Hi everyone...I am in Mesa, I have 6 girls(I hope) an auracana, a giant cochin, 2 barred rocks and 2 golden laced wyandottes(i think)...Hubby is braving our unexpected rain to finish the coop and the girls are all snuggled in their box...my biggest question is what should I use in the coop? Sawdust or rice hull or what? Any help would be great!

No you did not tell me that but I did not ask either. PQ is fine with me. One is not a silky. It is a single comb with hard feathers and is about twice the size of the rest. It's feathers are a slate gray color and he has a thin line of feathering going down his legs and he has 4 toes. Do you have a clue what it could be? I am enjoying them very much. Could one of your silkie ladies had an affair with something other than a silkie roo? They are doing well. Will post photos of them soon, maybe you can help me figure out what the other chick could possibly be.

I use pine shavings in the nest boxes and elevated section of my coop and sand in the bottom area on the ground. Please send the rain south.
