We can be broody together! This will be my 2nd broody. The first, Betsy, is on day 16 and is having a rough time. I gave her 8 eggs. (2 green, 2 white, 3 medium/1 large brown) Between days 3 & 5 she "lost" 1 green and the large brown and "gained" 3 medium browns. (I didn't know chickens could do chicken math!

) Two of the "gains" were fertile/growing, so I let her keep them. All that probably should have been a warning sign. I keep finding uncovered eggs that she has not tucked-in that have gotten cold. I tuck them back in, but I don't know if they will hatch. Today, as I tucked another cold egg back in, I noticed white shell. She has "lost" a white and the last green.

I suspect there will be no chicks next week. Hopefully Vader will have better luck! I'll keep my eyes & ears open for Delaware eggs for you. I'm very happy Nit is better also. It was horrible that first day wondering if she was going to be alive when I finally got home.

Edited for brain-fart!

That's very interesting. My husband always wants to grow some but I'm not as enthusiastic about them as he is. Infact I don't care much for most cacti. We have two that I don't mind. They are dragon fruit and the other is a mystery cactus. The remaining we are removing. Its going to be a big ordeal. Everything here is a big ordeal. But guess that's how it works with old houses.

Ah yes. Dragon fruit which is called in Mexico Pitahaya. There seems to be two types, one very red and the other a sort of off color cream white. They all come ripe at the same time. Luckily, the last time we were in Guadalajara they were fruiting. They were delicious.

Those grown in Mexico are large, about the size of an apple, but those I saw in Viet Nam were smaller, more like plum size.

Whatever you do, don't take out that plant.

We started off with 3 chickens, and now have 14. Last night I tried to hint to my husband that if he wants new golf clubs, he needs to build me two new coops first. I am becoming a monster.

We started with 6. Now were down to about 35 adults. I am not counting anything not yet laying. That may double the numbers. I don't count quail either. Its pointless. Lol

LOL! I think I'm only going to count laying ones too, then we can just pretend the others aren't there! I end up looking at the egg auctions too much, and my bator is full - LOL! Planning for when it's empty!

Mahalo!

I KNEW I should have slipped a few of those "EEs" into my purse when I was out there yesterday. Guess I'll have to wait my turn.
