Where in Tucson are the free wood shipping crates? We are planning on making new pens for my DS showbirds and I think these would work.

Of course, I will wait until you have gotten all of yours, before I start getting some, lol.

Thanks!
Angie

I knew I should have kept my big mouth shut!!!

HeHe... I tried to look up the posting on CL, but it had expired. Luckily I always e-mail myself the ads that I really like so that I will have the info. Here is the ad:

"For FREE - Business has Pallets and Wood Crates
Date: 2009-08-13, 9:50AM

My company has pallets and wood crates for FREE.
You can use them as is or for fire wood or craft items.
Located in the Tucson Mall area.
Please call during business hours and ask for Shawna - 520-617-4540"

They don't very many. Maybe 1 or 2 a week. I'm going to try to make it down there this week. We'll see... They have all different sizes. Some huge and some dog house size. I expect props and pictures of your finished project if you guys get any!

Thanks CrystalGail for the info. That is about 20 min away from us.

I talked to my DH about it and he thought he could make them work.

So, let me know when you have all you need, then I'll give them a call.

Well, I guess I could have just put my fingers in my ears and sang "lalalalala... I can't hear you." But, that's not my style. I'm a chatty kathy! Plus, I figure if I can help others, others will help me! So, I guess that makes me a little selfish in a passive aggressive way... HeHe

Angie, I will let you know when I have what I need, but just keep reminding me. My memory is junk! Hey maybe we can work something out where you can pick up a bunch and I can pick them up from you. I'm coming for Casa Grande, so its a LONG drive for me. I would rather not get there just to find out someone had beat me to it!

They just leave them out all the time and have people come whenever they want to get them. If not, that's cool, too!

Once I find out where they are, I can drive past on my way home from work. If I see any, I can have my DH pick them up.
I am a little closer to Casa Grande than Tucson Mall, so it won't be quite so far for you. I will be more than happy to have you pick them up from my place. I'll let you know.

Its about 44X46X26, not exactly sure how we are going to get it OUT of the van but heh, should be a fun project....Now I just need to find pics of everyone else's Shipping Crate Coops!

I know nothing about shipping crates, but your location caught my eye - I'm at 70th Ave, just south of Union Hills.

Wow that is close. That puts you in a neighborhood too or are there acres in there... I think that's still in Peoria. I have my little flock in a 25' back yard and I put that poor rooster in the garage each night...He only crows when the light is on or when in the yard but not much lately, maybe I am making him shy. I made pets out of these little ones got them when they were chicks and babied them all the way. I hand feed them and carry them around. They get more tame each day....Cant believe I got so attached. even thinking of chicks in the spring.
