Arizona Chickens

Larissa, my husband is a police officer and deals with people like your neighbor all the time. It's really frustrating! Why does one nosy neighbor have to ruin it for everyone? It's not like you are growing pot in your back yard!!!!! Get over it, lady!

Pati, I agree... God has given us so many beautiful things to enjoy! On Sunday we had a family of wild quail across the street (empty lot) foraging and I had all my kids sitting in the front window watching them. So cute! We also have a road runner that comes by every so often and a burrowing owl at the end of the street! So many facinating wonders in nature to watch! I'm so happy to be able to share them with my wonderful kids! I will have to take them to see the tigers soon.... Thanks for letting us know!

Have a wonderful day!

:yaLauree, what a thing to have to go through. Don't people have something better to do. Like being of service to someone or something. When you look at what you exchange your day for. It has you looking at life threw a different window.

I also have a RoadRunner that visits my yard from time to time. This spring my son and I saw a baby RoadRuner with it's mother. That is the very first time I have ever seen a baby. Have you eve seen one? There is also a pair of white doves that hang out by my chicken pen. They are really pretty, I hope it is a good sign.

They have done lots of work at the Zoo, here in the west valley it is on Olive. It is not as big as PHX. I think I like it better. Your boys should have a great time. Do take a cameria.

Wow chickens are just not appreciated like they should be

I gave my roo to my friend for awhile. Too much crowing to be safe. did not want to loose the whole group because of him...I loved his voice. I loved watching him, such a guy. Anyway think we found property in Queen creek...anyone know about Queen Creek laws. My friend does not want to have him fro keeps, thinks she will not want chicks just yet, so we hope to take him with us soon.

Pati, I can PM you the links? Also, I'm going to Pratts on Thursday after work, last time they had Cochins but pricey ($20.00)

DM - I'm not sure about the law in Queen Creek for chickens, but I do know you can have a hores if the property is over 1/3 of an acre. It could be different in different areas. Best of luck! Moving stinks, I don't envy you! I hope you have help!! If not, give me a PM and I'll come help pack! (not joking, just so you know...).

Edited to add:
Larissa - I forgot to tell you that my hubby said that you can call the cops on her for standing on her roof and taking pictures of your backyard. That is harassment! See how she likes it!

Night all!

Thanks btrent, I appreciate the heads up on the thursday shipment info.... I try to stop there every other week after work, just to check it out and see what pheasants they have, looking for a yellow Golden hen and they are hard to come by in this town I guess
roll.png
I shall NOT be tempted if they have any adorable little Bantams...I shall not... hehehehe

i was interested in the red golden pheasants for awhile but i gave up on those for now .. im gonna focus on expanding my flock to 12 and get the finches .. they seem quite interesting and its possible they can generate enough income to pay for themselves and my chickens

If there is one thing that I would move out of AZ for tomorrow, it would be to get away from scorpions! I got stung in bed tonight! The nasty little bugger was in my bed!!!!!
somad.gif
I was asleep and rolled over and slid my arm under the covers and BAM! I have not been able to go back to sleep... The pain is super intense, and I've had 4 kids!!!!! I totally freaked out when I couldn't find it. I pulled the bed apart, then stripped to try to find it. My husband finally found it tucked in the sheets... Yuck! I'm from Cali and this is my first time being stung. Can you believe my pest guy just came on Monday? I know they can't kill them with spray, but we have had 4 in the house this past week! I think I need someone new!
rant.gif
I got stung on my lower forearm and I'm numb from my thumb up to my armpit! Well, not exactly numb as it is ON FIRE!!!!!!!
somad.gif
I read that the pain can last for up to 24 hours! GREAT!!!!!! The thing that freaks me out the most is I was just changing my baby on the bed a few hours ago. It could have been him! That's what made me cry!!!!

Well, I hope you all are having a better night than I am!

I am so sorry to hear you go bit.. I fear them too.

My daughter's baby had a near miss with one. He was on the floor and pointed to one crawling. My daughter caught the situation just in time. She called a group called scorpion Tec. They started plugging up areas they could get into, on her house it was around the bathroom drains. Do you suspect an infestation?.... A black light at night shows where they are. This group did help, they came out often as it was a service. Said they feed on bugs and guarantee to get them. Do you think DE would work? I put some down on the floor and under my mattress as Bed bugs came by one week, never had them before.. I think they came with the chickens. Now I have DE everywhere, chicken coop, on chickens base boards....bugs creep me out. I Heard chickens eat scorpions... ????
