Arizona Chickens

Hey all! Well, the Fair shows are over, but every last one of my silkies got blue ribbons and my leghorn got a red (poor condition) so im quite happy!

No need to pay for gas. You are within biking distance....if I were less chubby and so inclined.

No need to pay for vaccinations. I am an accounant and a firm believer in the sunk cost.

What you CAN do: if you have some smaller gauge needles, that would be great. All I have are the big ones from Jeffer's and one botox needle my neighbor brought me (I like how tiny they are).

I only need the one tip for my chickies, but if you want to poke each chick with a new tip, we'll need more.

I had to cull a chick today.

It's little legs were deformed and it was on it's way out. I was a very hard thing to do. Dang the reality of life and death can be so ugly.

We went to the fair yesterday! We went and checked out the chickens. So fun! I doubt I would recognize you, but we are rather noticeable. Did you see a crazy lady walking around with 5 little girls and a big green double stroller? We talked to a cute little boy walking around with his tiny rooster. My daughter was thrilled to see there were no Polish among the entries. She is hoping to join 4H soon and enter her rooster next year. She wants to enter one of her Japanese bantams from pdx2phx, too.

Speaking of those Japanese girls, we finally got an egg today!!! It is sooo tiny and cute. They finally decided our nesting box is okay. This is the first day I have seen them in it, and I suppose one decided it was egg worthy. YAY!! Of course, it would take a whole dozen to make an omelet.

Mandy, so sorry about you having to cull a chick. I feel for you. I think this is one of the biggest of having a husband. He can do all that stuff that I am just not programmed to do, like kill stuff and reach stuff on the top shelf.

Sold all of my baby seramas - yea but sad at the same time!!! We're keeping one so, it's not so bad, and she has company of the two blue ameraucanas and the EEs. Ordering more eggs - LOL!

Did you see a really tall girl with red hair walking around with a white silkie? Wearing a white shirt, blue denim skirt, and a green tie? That was me

I do recall seeing several Moms with kids and strollers...
