Laree - you never cease to amuse me!

rebbetzin - I just bought a fig tree. The leaves are beautiful, even though it is only a few feet tall.

GrannysRoost - Ooooh! I'm jealous of the 'bator. What kind of eggs? When will they hatch?

My broody hen's eggs should hatch TOMORROW. I'm going insane!

She is starting to look a little frazzled, and I wanted to give her a special treat, so I bought her a can of sardines. I thought the protein would be great. She recoiled in terror. Well, as much as she could, without actually getting off her eggs.

The other chickens went absolutely bonkers for them. I think they went over better than pasta, grapes, or melon.

Ugh, now I smell like fish.

Whats the best way to to introduce new chicks with existing chicks? I have two 7/wk old girls now when I finish the coop I plan on introducing another two ~7/wk old girls so they all go into the coop at the same time. Is that the best way to do it?

I haven't yet dealt with that issue. Good luck finishing the coop and integrating the new birds.

TT!, Good luck with the hatch tomorrow!

turkeybreeder, I love the color of those eggs! Nice size too.

Mahonri, Exquisite coloring on the brown egg, congratulations. Happy birthday too!

I think since they are about the same age, and young that it will be fine to just put them all into the new coop at once. If you are worried, you could split the coop in two with a divider for a few days and then take the divider out. When mine were younger and we added other young ones the same age, it went over without a hitch. My stinker chick was one of the original ones we picked up and all had been together at the feed store. She turned out to be really a meanie and we gave her away.
