I do not use A/C in my coop, but the coop is 3-sided, so there's lots of ventilation. If you have an enclosed coop - you probably need the A/C. Besides being open, my coop and run is very shaded and I wet the area outside the small run down every morning, so that it's damp and cool by afternoon. So far this year, I haven't lost any of my 20 hens.


The area I wet down is off to the left of the coop/run, but still inside the larger run that is enclosed by horse panels (as pictured here):

I agree- beautiful! And I showed my DH some of the features you have- the next day he added circle doors to our nest boxes- now one hen actually uses them sometimes instead of laying in the dirt under the coop like the rest! And we will be working on a better water system- really like your setup.
