Arizona Chickens

I'll trade you one of my beautiful Wheaton Americauna 9 or 10 week pullet for a FBCM pullet. Interested? Oh and what age are they?

They are still itty bitty, hatched on July 21st, no idea if girls or boys, but if you want them once I have a friend to keep Phyllis company you can have them. I'm full in the big chicken department.

Sigh. No, I have to get the same size 9-10 weeks old.

Wow....I have been looking up Seramas quite a bit over the past month or two...I think I am losing the battle. They are taking away my will to not have more chickens....It's not my fault....really. It's the Serama's fault....I mean....why should anything have that cute size and posture?? How could a reasonable person resist such a cuteness onslaught?!?!

Ahhh....but with the way our yard is, we really couldn't keep them separate (or safe) from the 'big girls.' So.....they'd have to be in the house.

What can I do in the face of such odds???

Large parrot cage and chicken diapers

Sonoran, I tried to send you a PM, but the inbox was full.

Did you have any more pet quality birds left?

If you live in a cold winter area, single combs are more likely to get frostbitten than are rose or pea combs. In a warm climate, single combs help the birds get rid of heat. Pea comb is closely linked to the blue egg gene. Some people like or dislike the looks of certain kinds of combs.

Then there is the very unusual buttercup comb. Or the v-shape comb of the crevecours.

I think buttercups are the only breed with the buttercup comb, but polish, houdans and sultans also have the V-combs. Didn't think to mention those two as they are less common than the others.

oh...oh--forgot breda combless. Once again, a one breed phenominon

Sure do. A lot of the PQ birds are actually F2 or F3 crosses that didn't end up with enough silkie features (mostly chocolates), but I do have some PQ birds with silkie feathering. And lots and lots of boys.

I already have 20+ crowers, thanks.

We had a silkie massacre on Monday. I would like to get one for each of my boys and then lock the silkies in a gilded cage so they can't keep stumbling to their doom.

Their size shouldn't be a problem. I've always had tiny, tiny OEGBs with full size birds, even broilers and turkens. Even peacocks!everybody seems to work it out, just so you don't crowd them.

My OEGBs and D'uccles are in charge of the big girls. Never mess with anything tiny and pecking.

I can hardly wait until my Buttercups grow combs. Right now, I can't really tell them apart from the Golden penciled Hamburgs.they're a little smaller and slightly different color, very subtle. I kind of wish I'd gotten them their own roo, they're on the Critical breed list, which I didn't realize.
Anybody want some Easter Eggers? I really need to sell 4-5 Pullets. I have way too many for my small garden. I had to order twenty five but really only wanted about 10-12 total.
Butchering jumbo crosses today and tomorrow. Should see a big drop in the grain bill!
