I agree!

Drug seeker, DW sees them at the ER everyday.

He's probably been plotting on a good plan for living indoors, and getting a chef, and a maid. Since he got it, he now thinks he's a rockstar and needs drugs too, just to keep up appearances.

Anybody need a Blue Ameraucana Cockerel? "It" has happened to me again, except this time they were supposed to be sexed. He's a really nice boy. Actually he's a big chicken, in the fraidy cat sort of way. He's the taller one / one in back. No hackles or sickles yet, but starting to crow, and getting three row comb which is getting pink now. He's also a little faded from the sun right at the moment, but the picture was a few weeks ago before you could see it much. Some of his blue feathers have bleached out to a bluish brown color.

Flo will be heartbroken

, he (Bernie) is the one that always sleeps under her chest. We named him Bernice / Bernie because I was just sure he was a cockerel, even though everyone has told me he looks like a pullet. Now he is a bit more mature and he's obviously a boy. He was born in the beginning of April, about 4 months old.

Where are you finding these blue ameraucanas? No, I can't take your roo. I already have a blue cochin roo, sshhhh. But just wondering.......

Good morning all!

Nothing special going on here. I didn't do any house work all weekend, and have not got the coop 100% repaired.

All the roos and older hens will be moving along for science on Monday. I CANNOT wait. I am so stoked the crowing will stop.

Other than that, I think I bought one of these last night:

except it still looks like this:

Sommer got it from our newest Aloha Chicken member. Even if I don't buy a share of that sheep, I am commited to babysitting it for three weeks while she is in Hawaii.

No you are not over reacting. IB can kill within 24 hours. Do you have any human antibiotics on hand? Could your Dr. (boss) prescribe you some Keflex caps and you could mix it up and syringe it down his throat?

Oh and yeah, you are really sounding a lot like Laree!.. I'm dyin' laughin' here.

I thought IB was a virus? I thought it was normally coronavirus. Are there any common bacterial respiratory illnesses that poultry get?
What vaccines are recommended for a breeding flock in AZ? What about for broilers? I was thinking about buying Newcastles and Marek's to give to my hens, since I didn't have it done at the hatchery but not sure if it can be done when they are older.
I've never vaccinated my poultry but thinking I probably should start. I think I've just always been very lucky.

I am really not that familiar with infectious bronchitis, so I looked it up in Merck. It is indeed a virus, but is often accompanied by bacterial infections which are the leading cause of death. Therefore, treatment with antibiotics is appropriate. There are vaccines for IB, both live and attenuated. Using a live vaccine can cause the virus to be shed for months.

I've never vaccinated, but the common ones I know of people using include infectious coryza and fowl pox.
