Did you ever consider Welp Hatchery? I bought from them last November. Very healthy chicks, all alive, I am very happy (except of course the are not SQ but that is probably not your expectation).

just FYI, welp gets their chicks from privett except for their meat chickies.
one of the feed stores that i used to frequent in the beginning gets all their chicks from privett. i still have one hen, an EE, left from my very first batch(sold off everyone else). she is the best layer and never so much as a sniffle! but she likes to try to escape

You seem to attract the troublemakers...

But you are not alone. I had to pick my young cubalayas off the coop roof for three nights in the dark (they love heights and I am a chicken

). Sunday evening I cut wings. Now they are reluctantly going in with the rest. Making changes to the flock (like separating out roosters) has all kinds of funny consequences. And my flock is big enough now where I have to concentrate REALLY hard when I do a head count not to forget one or the other breed.

Did you guys know that chicken math actually can spread to other species as well?!? I got 4 more alpacas on Saturday

Laree you should watch out or your "diaper-rack" wish might be granted.

The feed store by me uses privetts...they are actually in New Mexico. maybe see what they have. I have been happy with what I have gotten from them.

I'll check it out. Ideal seems to have the best prices, good selection. If I remember, Welp has great prices but then tacks on a huge shipping cost but I may be mistaken since I've looked at so many hatcheries lately. I don't remember checking Privett's.

Privett's doesn't have Cornish X. Welp's requires 25 of the Cornish X, unless I'm reading it wrong.
It seems like Ideal is the most flexible. They have really good prices and good reviews, too. I also like Mcmurray's, but they are more expensive, especially on the Cornish X.

Much of the time, it is cheaper to ask your feed store to order the chicks for you. They get a discount on the shipping, especially if they are placing your order along with their normal order.

BUT- if your hatchery is doing free shipping, that is a whole different world!
