Arizona Chickens

I do not think any of my gals weigh 7 pounds. They are all about the same height, give or take a little. All of my gals are hatchery. I know my Gold Laced Wyandotte only weighs in at 4 lbs ( the vet weighed her) All my gals seem to be doing well with the heat.
My Australorp (back right) is bigger than my Welsummer (back left) and my Speckled Sussex (in front of the Welsummer) My Black Sex-Link is in back middle and my Delaware is the only white one

The dark brown eggs are from my Welsummer

What nice pictures, Chris! I have such a hard time getting decent pictures of my girls.

I still can't get any pictures to upload. AGGGH!

Thanks Petra...I also have a hard time getting pictures of all the gals together. That is only half of them! They are always on the go, just like kiddos, can't get them to stay still.

Oddly, the cc&r's on disk given at close do not appear to match the cc&r's attached to the letter of complaint. I review most carefully before I got chickens, even running it by my landlord for permission.

The concerns are frivolous.

Give me a call; I can probably help figure it out for you. Which is your HOA, what is the date on the CC&Rs you were given at closing and the date of the ones on the complaint letter? Do you own or lease (since you refer to a landlord)?

See next post.

Yea! my landlord is going to bat for me with the HOA. The copies of the CC&R's they sent with the letter of complaint are clearly not what was provided her at the close of sale last August. No updates have been provided. We are anxious to address any reasonable concerns.

We are in s rent to own situation, and my landlord is my BFF. She comes over all the time (and eats my eggs) Closing documents are boilerplate, not forbidding chickens or other fowl as long as they do not create a nuisance. The thing attached to the complaint has no date and is very specific. You may have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 bird and and aquariums with a reasonable amount of fish--if it's not visible.

My chickens don't howl every time an emergency vehicle goes by. Their 2 or maybe 3 dogs do. I don't complain, hey, they are dogs. Sometimes dogs bark or howl.

I'm in a county island as well. Neighbors have chickens, even have a rooster. They have had horses, many, many goats, slaughtered a huge hog a few years ago. Quite a menagerie.

I don't think I'll have a problem with a few chickens.

Too funny! I was surfing the Ideal site and came across Welsummers too. BYC Wells linkey & Ideal Wells linkey 9lb roos, 7 lb hens - same as Speckled Sussexes

Marans look good for the super dark eggs & I think someone in this thread has them. Yes? Unfortunately sold out.

Rhode Island Reds were recommended to me by the wife of a friend. She is an Ag. teacher here and uses them for eggs. However three of the four entries on the Breeds page list them as aggressive.

Speckeled Sussexes are listed as all climates BYC Speck Sus Linkey and friendly, 9lb roos, 7 lb hens.

I couldn't find a "buttercup" listed on either site and the only weight I could find on a standard Leghorn was 4-1/2 lbs. I assume the Wellsummers and Susexes are quite a bit larger.

Does anyone want 2 broody silkies? I'm giving up on them! They are 2+ years old (we got them used, the previous owner said they were a year old). When they aren't broody they are pretty good layers. Except, they are always broody. They are white, one is bearded, one is not, and they are extra ratty after being broody for the last 3 months. I've tried everything. They won't stop. Will someone please take them and put some eggs under them? Or give them chicks? Or just eat them to put them out of their brooding misery?
