Arizona Chickens

Take a locker mirror and write "YOU" on the glass.
Prop mirror up on grill.
Roll grill over to coop.
Give hens a menacing look.

EDITED: I was going to try the same thing with the xmas lights for my girls, but haven't had a chance yet. I put a bunch of those $3 homedepot solar pathway lights in and around the coop. I didn't want all my pullets waiting until next spring to start laying.

CLUCKIN- hmmm. I don't then. Maybe craigslist them? You could try putting them in a crate for a few days to break up the pecking order. Someone here suggested I do that to my old brahmamutt roo gefore the roos went to freezer camp. After a week in the crate he was sweet as pie. Litterally. (muahahaha!)

Does anyone know if chickens can have avocado? I bought a whole bunch of them at Fresh and Easy ( I LOVE their clearance sections!!) to make and freeze guac and will have a bunch of skins they can munch on but I don't want them to get sick...

I just posted some of my chickens on craigslist, but I'm pretty far from you.

Yes you are very far!! Distance is part of the reason I didn't get more hens from Nessa

People in Glendale can't possibly be the only ones with chickens!!!

There has to be more people on the east side with chickens (more farmland?)- When I sold my light brahma roo, all 3 phone calls I received on his ad (including his new owner) were on the east side of town - new owner was from Maricopa. But... I wouldn't travel across town for regular chickens. His new owner had all light brahma hens and needed a roo (had just lost his). Light brahmas aren't very common here.

That's right - I remember you too. I'm glad you found your rooster. You would have been waiting quite a while for mine to get that big.

We can't have roosters here and I was so dissapointed that my only brahma was a roo - he was so sweet & friendly and I had really wanted a light brahma. He was hatched from eggs I bought online (first time we ever hatched eggs) and his was the only brahma egg that hatched.

I am thrilled because 2 months ago when we got some new chicks, I found another light brahma at the feed store (they only had one left). This one is a girl! She's also very sweet - the only new chick we have that seems to be a lap chicken.

This is the only pic I have of her - was trying to take pics of the frizzle. I put the frizzle on my knee and of course two more chicks had to jump up and join him

Good morning Arizona. I added some new branches for roosts in the Wee ones Pen. Changed things around in the Big Kids pen. I am trying to close off the 2 areas from each other. I Thought the height I had was adequate. However now that I changed some hutches around, the big kids can fly over the roof of the Playhouse coop and are in Baby area. the back side of playhouse had about a 5' space open. I placed a large screen in the opening and can slide it back and forth (like a pocket door) when I need a short cut into either pen. Problem is, the top is open enough for the chickens to fly in. Launching from the roof of the Sugar Shack. I don't want to clip the wings as they free range. The top of the pen is Camo netting and sun screen. The new area has been covered with wire. I'm trying to get bird netting on that. I am really having problems with the birds getting into pen area and eating the food. Does anyone know a local place that sells Aviary Netting? I really don't like the bird netting as it rots after one season. I have seen critters get so tangled in it, they hang their self.

mahalO4, How are the eggs coming for the Dec. 3rd Hatch?
