Just got in from a wild chicken round-up. Caught all but four, I think. I'm going to coop them up for at least 4-5 days and get them sleeping in the coop again. Clip wings and we're building a fence this week so that I can start rye grass after irrigation on Friday. How I do those of you who don't have tops on your pens make your fences? It will be fine if I have occasional escapes, just so they don't all get out constantly.
Let the bigger batch of chicks out today, with a tarp fo shade attached to the tractor. The big chickens didn't seem to bother them and the smaller chicks were still in the tractor. Put them back up before the stray cats come around at dusk.
Hubby finally agreed to a cat trap! I think he finally realized how freaked out the chickens are getting and, he finally saw the stray cats for himself.
So, what do I do with the stray, feral cats when. Get them? Euthanization isn't really an option, since my hubby is a total cat lover, and I think the cat shelters are full, or they were a couple of weeks ago, I heard on the radio.
Is there some kind of cat rescue?
