Mine are very ugly, too. Soon, we'll be able to tell the Pullets from cockerels and hopefully, sort out the production reds from the broilers. Looks like the production reds are really red, at least from the packing peanuts I have, which others say are probably production red cockerels.
Big news today! TWO Banty eggs! First egg for the one and second for the other!

Old fridge, probably R-12, newer fridge, (say less than 10 years old) probably R-134A. R-12, CFC, (chlorine molecules) supposed to be bad for the ozone layer, R-134A, (no chlorine molecule). You don't HAVE to recover R-134A, which is why you can buy it at AutoZone. A mini fridge would only have a few ounces of Refrigerant in it to begin with, assuming it didn't already leak out, usually recovered with a bag, like a garbage bag since there is so little. If it is R-12, no open flames when it leaks out or it creates a toxic gas, and freon displaces oxygen, so it should be outside. If an a/c contractor vents cfc's or hfc's, it is a $25000 fine, ( if caught), but I don't think there are any repercussions for a private citizen. Just my fuzzy rememberances from my EPA certification class. Just sayin'. If it were mine and I was going to repurpose it, I'd cut one of the cap tubes, the little spaghetti sized lines, since it more than likely is R-134A.

Are they feral or stray? - big difference. I have a stray cat living on my front porch/garage right now that somebody dumped. She's friendly and meows for attention and food.
We also have a few feral cats in the neighborhood that do not like human contact at all and run when they see you.
Feral cats are really a pain. There are no no-kill rescue organizations I know of that will take them. I've tried. (They won't even take my friendly porch cat right now.)
There is one organization that will trap, neuter and re-release if you promise to feed them.
If you take them to the pound or humane society they will charge you to leave them there and they will probably be euthanized anyway. I don't think they adopt out feral cats.

My dear, sweet hubby got back, took his little nap....and then helped me figure it out. He squeezed the lines shut for about 1.5 inches (really tightly squeezed) and then snipped the edge of it to let it decompress a bit (with a rag over top of it). Then he cut it completely & I took the compressor assembly out of the fridge.

Now I just have to figure out all the wiring stuff...which is really, really not my forte. But, alas, I have a mission & I will succeed...with lots of help
