I just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have said nice things and for those of you who have offered to help me find some friends for my little girl, what a great group!
pdx2phx They were sitting on the perch next to each other when I went out tonight to check on them. She's doing well. Not pecking at her toe anymore.
Well, coops still not ready to move into. Used almost 20 gallons of paint to seal/paint them. Moved most of the dirt needed onto the varmint barrier before dark, but ran out of time. Still need hinges on the roll out nest boxes and put up roosts. I made the front side of the coops 10 feet tall so the Icelandics can get as high as they want to roost. i'll post pics one of these days, slow internet and fatigue conspire against me.
Need to take pics of the newest babies, have about 17 mixed breeds hatched in the last 3 or 4 days, plus another 8 or 10 over the last couple of weeks. I'm so behind i don't even count them anymore.
Whomever it was (sorry, I'm being lazy) that was looking for a companion for their 6 week old, I can volunteer babies to keep it company, but no telling whether they are roo or hen. I've always had good luck putting babies with slightly older pullets, but not always with full grown hens.
Sounds like a ton o work! Can't wait to see picts!
SouthernDesert, is it legal for a resident to shoot a javelina if it's marauding on their property? Just curious, I don't have health ins. and really don't want to risk the expense of rabies shots. I hope your neighbor gets better quick. That is just plain scary.
pastrymama, pdx2phx had other calls on her as well, I just got lucky.
If she and the sultan roo get along, I may have hatching eggs. They are pretty cute.
Mikey, do y'all deliver?
It is not legal to discharge a firearm in a residential area - cannot remember if it is within 1/4 mile or 1 mile. You might have to deal with that if the popo come to investigate. Please be careful.

Yes! But not for sale, you may have it. I'm happy to have it used. Send me an email. I should be around, unless I go blind from trying to catch up here!

The law changed this year--basically so that folks in a residential area in the middle of nowhere can protect themselves from rampaging javelinas. You'll need to look it up for the specifics, though.
