I actually got him to agree to one spot, but it is 30' from the neighbor's house (instead of the 50' it is supposed to be). There is a 6' brick wall around our yard - will the neighbors even notice?

Probably not, I say go for it. If the neighbors complain you still have a back up.

Well, like we've seen on this forum as of late - it all depends on the neighbor. If the hubby agreed to a spot for the chickens, I'd say go for it...it's worth a shot. And if not, I'll be your "indefinite time-frame" back-up. I have 5 acres & that's plenty of space for 4 more chickens
