I've always gotten my EEs from the feed store although they always call them Ameraucanas.

They've been consistent blue/green layers. Just look for those cute chipmunk stripes.

I'll be hatching some EE (minty-blue egg) x Cuckoo Marans...should be "light olive" egg layers. I can let you know when they hatch out...but they most likely will not lay a blue egg since they're crosses, but they will have the blue gene.

Just curious, is there a reason to order from ebay? I thought you could pick them up at a pet food store. Are they worse quality or just a lot cheaper?

I think they were way cheaper. The place we usually go to (Wild Side Pets) has them for $3 per hundred. We got 1000 for $12.50.

Now I just have to find bran. Tammy raised them in her science class and sifted the raisens out of raisen bran for them.

Mikey, you can find bran at Sprouts in the bulk bins.

That pipped egg turned into a chick while I was at work. So that's three eggs slipped under the broody, and three hatches. That silkie may not be the brightest bird, but she's up to the task of being a mom. I congratulated the bantams on their babies, and they just looked at me and one said quietly, "b'gawk?" I don't think they're too excited over this.

It's going to drop to 54 degrees tonight - just spent 10 minutes on the phone w/ Dr. Tracy reassuring me that they would be OK. That and I put up a wind break.

I spent all this time making sure the area was well ventilated, now had to restrict air movement so the chickies are comfy. Silly Mikey!

***edited 'cause I accidentally hit the quote button and this has nothing to do with those cute new peepers***
