Arizona Chickens

I don't have one...and I love ideas!!!

I made an attempt at one, but it very quickly failed. Right now I have them in a plastic refrigerator egg cover that has a handle on the bottom (or top depending on how you look at it). I prop one side on a piece of wood so that they're tilted, then 3 times a day I switch it to the other side so they tilt the other way. It's my modified, make-do, turner

Lay it on me Mikey...

I don't know how many times a day they need to be turned/tilted. I've read two to four or more...

What I was thinking was an ice maker has a really low speed, high torque motor with a built in timing circuit. As long as it doesn't do it too many times a day, it would be simplicity in itself to rig it to tip a tray back and forth...

***edit prior to posting***

You can get an ice maker module for around $24 shipped off of ebay

Ebay IMM

I thought I had one for you but it got tossed in the last cleaning frenzy: ie. What am I ever going to use this for?

I am very sure they could be found in old fridges, off of CL etc...

Info I found online indicates they cycle between 8 & 12 times a day. Would that be too many tips/turns?

Wadda ya tink?

Roll-X incubators constantly roll the eggs back and forth very slowly. IMO, that is WAY too much. Don't like those incubators, anyway. My Sportsman turns the tray about 30 or so degrees, waits about 10-15 minutes and turns it the same distance in the other direction. MUCH better. You could consider purchasing the turner for a hovabator or little giant and simply putting that inside the fridge-a-bator.

Unless there is someone already involved with these cool chickens that wants the egg.

Awesome! Are you ever in Tucson?

Yep...I'll be up that way on Sunday for Mom's Halloween party...
