I don't have one...and I love ideas!!!

I made an attempt at one, but it very quickly failed. Right now I have them in a plastic refrigerator egg cover that has a handle on the bottom (or top depending on how you look at it). I prop one side on a piece of wood so that they're tilted, then 3 times a day I switch it to the other side so they tilt the other way. It's my modified, make-do, turner

Lay it on me Mikey...

I don't know how many times a day they need to be turned/tilted. I've read two to four or more...

What I was thinking was an ice maker has a really low speed, high torque motor with a built in timing circuit. As long as it doesn't do it too many times a day, it would be simplicity in itself to rig it to tip a tray back and forth...

You can get an ice maker module for around $24 shipped off of ebay

Ebay IMM

I thought I had one for you but it got tossed in the last cleaning frenzy: ie. What am I ever going to use this for?

I am very sure they could be found in old fridges, off of CL etc...

Info I found online indicates they cycle between 8 & 12 times a day. Would that be too many tips/turns?

Wadda ya tink?

See, now I would've never in at least a million years thought of that. However, I think that's a fantatstic idea. I know the eggs need to be turned at least 3 times a day. But I don't know the max number of times before they become scrambled eggs.
I will start my hunt for an old frig w/ ice maker...while I wait for someone to tell me how many turns it takes to scramble an egg

- If we hook the output of the icemaker to a larger gear we can reduce the # of turns as many times as you need. We can also make it turn the eggs in increments of 45 degrees so it goes from +45 to 0 to -45 etc... with each cycle. That would take you down to 4 - 6 times a day right there...

I agree, that would take the number of times down (which 4-6 is probably better than 8-12). I'll let you know if I find anything this weekend. There would definitely be a lot of PM's for that type of project...

These eggs should be hatching next Thursday. So, I can start working on a good egg turner just after that. I was going to make a hatcher out of another fridge, but hubby's X-bro-in-law came in all big & puffed up to claim it. SO...I have to figure something else out (styrofoam Circle K cooler?) because I have 4 eggs in the frigabator that were set a week after the first batch

I keep telling this big dumb Cornish that he'd cough, sneeze and choke a whole lot less if he didn't,

SUBMERGE HIS WHOLE HEAD IN THE FEED!

How does he breath down there anyway?
