That's a lot of bran! I still need to get a better box for my mealies, I think my container is too small. Every time I put a piece of fruit in it causes the grain ( oatmeal, rye flour and cornmeal) to mold. Not sure why, even really dry stuff like cabbage. I think I need a bigger container and more air holes.
But, everything has turned into beetles since I got them from Becky three weeks ago so I guess they're doing ok.

Just wondering how silky chicks do in the cooler weather? I have three that are 4-5 weeks old now and. Was wondering about putting them in the tractor. Do you think they'll need a a heat lamp? It will only be the three so not many to huddle together. They are fully fluffy, not sure if this is like regular chicks being feathered. They seem so delicate and the feathers are so different. My first time raising silky chicks.
If they were OEGBs or other breeds, I would have had them out several weeks ago. Just have been a little worried about putting them out. So soon.
Also, i think i have at least one blue silky rooster. How the heck do you sex these guys? Hoping I have at least two hens but the biggest just seems like he's a rooster. Although, no actual signs or any crowing.

i'd take some bran, but you live all the way out in timbuktoo! unless you could get it to meg moringaseed. she promised me a visit soon. i plan on getting my mealies when i feel a bit better and after my twins birthday next weekend. should be fun! 30+ 2nd grade girls doing karaoke in my backyard who all think they are lady gaga

so i have 2 kids freaking out that their hens have turned into roos. those stupid birds. i need silkie eggs STAT! or even sultan eggs BOB!!!!!!!! get that roo going! who has poofy frilly muppet like chickens? that's what i need. do i indulge my kids? well, just a little

Mikey, what part of the world are you in? I'm out in Wittmann, but come into Phx at least every other day. I'd be interested in buying some of your excess bran, plus I have a used Ice maker if you want to play with your egg turner idea. No guarantees that it works, it was in an old fridge in storage. Also, I have a piece of a meat grinder I thought your students could try welding, it's non ferrous, aluminum I believe. It don't desperately need it so if it gets fixed great, if not, eh.

She was laying pretty regularly up until she started getting her but kicked, so hopefully she starts up again!​
