The Granite Reef recreation area has raccoons everywhere, especially if you go at dusk. People tend to leave lots of trash and food around, and they come there to search for snacks. We went fishing there one time, and it was starting to get dark and we kept hearing noises, and the next thing, there are raccoons everywhere we looked.

We saw raccoon prints in the mud near the river too.
We also saw a really pretty red and black bird that I haven't identified yet. I can't find the "bird book". Maybe I left it in the pop up last time we went camping?

OK, the internet to the rescue. The bird we saw was a vermilion flycatcher. It was very striking!

wow! did NO ONE brave the crowds and go out last night and do some black friday shopping????? i did. my day started at 6am yesterday, we loaded up the surburban with kids and food and made the trek to oro valley. i made the MOST FANTABULOUS TURKEY EVER! it was a 20# dry brined turkey that dearest laree raised for me. however, i did not shove popcorn up it's who who. we got home a little after 8pm, put the kiddos into pjs, piled them back into the surburban and i drove them over to my GF house to spend the night so she and i could hit the pavement at 9pm. the fireman had to work today and leaves early. we shopped from 9pm until 5:30am this morning. i think i got a 90 minute nap from 6:30 am to 8am today and am running on pure exhaustion. there was a knock down fight at walmart over the xbox 360 kinect games and i was praying i would leave with no broken facial features. but i got the game i wanted! i think i ran over 20 people at target with the cart and took out a few displays, dilerium began to set in around 2am. i am beat.

in other news, Mahonri, fluffyface(one i got from meg) has decided to lay some blue eggs this week. i think i have gotten 3 or 4. yes, i know, pics. might be quicker if you just come and see for yourself. i am behind schedule and yes, i have a HUGE calender. as dr. phil would say, "how's that working for ya?"

Amen sister! We're doing the same - although we're prolly going to the dollar theater tonight to see The Three Musketeers. Kick'n back now and having some delicious turkey and home grown chicken soup!
