Here's a couple of pics. She also has poo on her fluff, which she never has had before. Maybe she just has a lot of junk in her trunk...

What do you think? Am I just being a paranoid first time chicken mama?

She does look egg bound. I've never had to experience this in all the years I've had chickens. Use KY, it's much better than oil based products. She might need some antibiotics so if she seems like her appetite goes down be ready to give her some antibiotics. Warm soaks and a heating pad. Good luck!

Meg - here is the Walmart heater - it was $11.97 in the store and they had several different colors ('cause I know that's important!)

Hey Golden Feather, I was having the same prob with uploading one of my pics today, I think it was just too big and was taking too much time and got internet timed out. Can you downsize your pics to 72 dpi before trying to upload??? As soon as I reset my pic to web size it loaded just fine!

So, you're saying he's an agressive and dangerous rooster but you don't want anybody to take him who may end up culling him? What happens in 6 or 12 more months when this rooster, who already has an attitude, goes to another unsuspecting home and a child gets scratched in the face or eyes by his spurs, which by that time are 2 inches or longer? Will it then be ok if he goes in a stew pot?
Sorry, agressive roosters need to be dealt with before they hurt a child or a visitor. Roosters can actually become very dangerous if agressive. Have you ever seen full grown roosters with spurs attack or fight? Have you ever seen some of the facial injuries posted on BYC caused by roosters?

Yes I have been attacked by an over large RIR Roo that I had to cull out of a low pen for a friend cause he was literally raping the hens. He came at me full force and I had a box ready for him and it was done.

I am not advertising this guy is a sweet docile guy. I am putting out there that if there is a free range situation he would make a great protector and that he cannot be trusted with little folks or big folks.

I can dominate him, but it aint fun and I haven't the time to do it consistently.

On the 'Mean Rooster Post' I am told I could retrain him and thought about it and housing him and some hens seperately but it wouldn't be fair, this guy needs space and a challenge, he's being a rooster after all.

If I can't find the right free range situation he will likely make a great chicken n dumplin stew and I keep his gorgeous feathers for my feather art.

I usually upload a 240 x 480 @ 180 dpi - seems to work fine

I found out that if you want to show a pict on another site (like the Wallmart heater)...

Just right click on the pict and copy the url. Then come back here and click on the Img button above the message box.

It will past the url tags into the message. Put you cursor in between the tags and past the url.

It will save server space for the BYC site and save your usage space here as well.

Good luck!

Wow! You can really tell by the picture that something isn't right. Let us know how she does.
