Arizona Chickens

1. No idea but that's a bunch-o-chickies - do you live in a HOA?

2. I have a home made treadle feeder and a Homer bucket with a swamp cooler float & 4 water nipples in the bottom. I wouldn't worry about leaving for quite a while with one of my kids stopping by to make sure all was working properly.

Welcome Birdman!!!

Also, do you have photos of the feeder you are referring to?

Thanks!

Yes but it is not real reproducable...

This is a shot of the side - I milled a slot in and put in some plexi-glass for a feed gauge

You are better off following Gallo's plans -

I stole mine from him & enlarged it so it holds just over 50 lbs. He is the "Treadle Master"

Wow polybuteline is the worst, it's so bad I can't even spell it! They repiped it with that stuff, what was there before galvanized? The poly stuff became a class action lawsuit many years ago. There is a new system that is being sold at all your big box stores that before they changed the name was in the process of a lawsuit too.

just some info for everyone.
Mahonri, let me know if you want it looked at.
Glad to hear things are looking up for others. Question for everyone, can a rooster's actions cause some sort of prolapse? One of our hens unwillingly was violated yesterday and I guess it's a prolapse.

Doesnt look like any of the pictures though.

I believe that there was copper before.

We built a 1680 sq/ft addition on when we got married - (she had 3 & I had three) - & many people tried to get us to use that plastic junque.

I'm a big fan of permanency.

But on the other hand, I don't think people are going to break into your house to steal plastic pipe. Even if you have copper pipes, it is better to tell everyone you had plastic put in. We live in a strange world, and it is getting even stranger.

Actually it depends on the plastic too. PVC,& CPVC don't hold up good in AZ attic heat but PEX does as long as it's Wirsbo/uponor. Not that sharkbite garbage from home depot. Its a copy of Zurn which has a class action lawsuit against it for premature failure of the fittings. Really? a metal crimp ring on plastic wont last?

Yeah, the house was originally plumbed in galvanized pipe, which needed to be replaced about the time that polybutyl was the hot new thing on the market. Believe me, I know All About that lawsuit, if we'd closed on our house ONE MONTH sooner, the company that made the pipe would have had to pay for the replumb. Yes, I'm still a little bitter about that.

Well, that and the fact that all of the fittings that showed were copper, so we didn't know it was polybutyl until the plumber opened the wall.

But that is all water under the bridge now, I still think getting the house was the right choice, I love the house and the neighborhood, and we were lucky enough to get a good deal, good enough that the house is still worth more than we paid for it.

As far as getting chicks, I've bought them mail order and locally, and I've been most happy with both My Pet Chicken and Meyer Hatchery. My biggest objection to ordering from Ideal is that their EE's are the fugly partridgey looking ones, Meyer has ones that are non-standard Ameriucanas.

we wanted to have a dinner for our family we were going to grill some chickens
that we raise and bake a turkey we invited the whole family then we call
to invite my aunt from Scottsdale and she decided to make a party
so no one is going to go to our house for new years they all decided
to go to her house

Kev, my house in Overgaard had that grey plastic plumbing. It popped and the water ran, and since were not right there, I had a $380 dollar water bill. But we had the prettiest green weeds in our yard.

I had to have the wood parquet floor relaid.

When I bought the house, the pipes were copper, but frozen. When they thawed out, we had water everywhere. Then the plumber from Show Low replumbed it with that plastic stuff. Boy was that a mistake!

In my mind, a compression fitting is just a leak waiting to happen.

It is real hard to find good tradesmen up there. I once waited five days for a plumber to show up. Finally, I found out he was in Jail in Holbrook.
