Arizona Chickens

Nice tractor Gallo!!! Beats mine for sure!

Does the end open? or just lift & go?

Thanks Mikey! It opens on the end. That pic was old, before I re-habbed it with a new roof and hardware cloth to make it more predator resistant. It was intended to be my day time chick brooder while I was working on the coop. They still hang out in it everyday.

AZKat, so sorry :(

SherrieT got the bator today, and showed me a pic of her eggs... :)

Gallo, I had to show hubby the pic of your tractor...liking that!

Great chicken and roo pics people :)

I like the new way too. I thought we had to still use the uploaded pics, this way is much easier.

Mikey: here are pictures of my pullets (same hatch date and place as yours).
None of mine are close to laying, but I didn't get any fast-growing meaties.

the 2 reds (PRs):

Australorp- I have two that are almost identical.

GSL pullet:

and, of course you've seen my GSL roo. We caught him trying to crow today. So cute!
Well...

I guess One Dot is a Broiler then.

I only have one the size and color of your PR's. The other two (One dot and her sister) are lighter and much, much bigger.

I guess we are going to find out how well a red broiler lays as I'm not sending One Dot to freezer camp!

That roo is beautiful. I ordered 2 app spitz roos with intentions on keeping one of them. Supposed to be really active & I'm hoping for a nice crow and good protector for the girls.

Very nice and even nicer with the tin on it. I just brought mine home and I'm not really liking it too much but I figured (like you)

it would make a good outside brooder when they get older.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later...I found tapeworm segments. My plan is to treat them with Valbazen. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences dealing with tapeworms in chickens?

Ok, dumb question, but are you sure?! I might be in denial....gahhhhhh!!!!!
When can I come see the garden improvements? Plus, we should talk about Azure, organic feed options, etc. I'll send an email.

I ordered Valbazen but I never did treat my chickens and I know they have had them at least a few months. So far they are fine and healthy and laying every day.
I know some people worm regularly and some never do so I decided to try never.

I may change my mind at some point.

Hello! I am new to this forum and new to raising chicks! I have 3 red star and 3 black star Sexlinks that I purchased from Ace Hardware four days ago. I am loving them! Who knew they had such personality? My daughter (10 yrs old) was holding one of the red stars named Angel in her lap. My cat, Megatron, hopped into my daughters lap and plopped her butt on top of Angel! Guess my kitty doesn't like to share lap snuggles. Angel had to settle for snuggling on my daughters shoulder. LOL!
