Arizona Chickens

FuzzyBird Hatch date was 11/17. That makes them 9 weeks and 3 days old. A week closer to laying than I thought!!

Thanks, I will write that down.

Yep--chicks seem very happy--It's hard not to keep messing with them, but I figure if they werent in that box, they'd be outside under some chicken wing--certainly not a perfect 85!

And--Here are some coop pics. It's not pretty but it's sturdy--I was standing in it to attach the roof. Should be reasonably easy to clean with the big door and the removable wall.

Floor of the run will be 4-5 inches of sand. The coop will have shavings in the bottom. I havn't added the ladder or the pop-door yet. Also need to put hardware mesh along the bottom of the gate side, as the critters can hop right through.

Very cool and well thought out. I love the re purposed materials!

Decided that new little fuzzy butts are in my future. The Western Ranchman is getting in Silver Laced Wyandottes around Valentines Day. They won't have Cuckoo Marans until the week after. I would really like to have a couple EE's as well, but they won't have any then. I really would love to have more blue/green egg layers.

I am excited for little ones and to get more baby pics. They just don't stay little for long!

Pic of the chicken coop I made (probably not the most efficient and lovely, but it works

). Has no bottom so chicks are free to peck and scratch the ground as they please. Completely boarded at the top, fencing/boards on the sides. Sturdy and predator proof! Oh! Also has a 3/4 in. gap between boards and fencing on the inside, so heat lamp clamps on the upper inner corner inside the coop.

Excellent!

However, we had such a beautiful living room, & I put a coop/brooder in it, I'd be sleeping with the chickens!
