Arizona Chickens

Because it's on a Saturday, we may be able to do this! And I have a couple of hens that are real lookers. Gotta talk it over with DW

Let the older chicks (3 1/2 weeks old) out to bask in the sun today. They loved it. They didn't want to go back in the kennel/brooder. I let my Shephard mix out to see what her reaction would be. She appeared to want to heard them but lost interest pretty quick and went and grabbed her ball. They really enjoyed checking out the underside of their new coop that my hubby is building. He's got the majority of the frame done. I think that might be the easiest part. I am sure cutting out doors and the siding is going to be difficult, as well as the nest boxes.

The two new chicks are doing great. One of them is very very loud. I need to get them a small feeder/waterer as I am using little bowls right now and they keep crawling in the food bowl to snuggle.

Mikey D. Thanks again and sorry about your other chicks. The girls felt so bad that you had lost some chicks. They also can't wait till our older chicks are big like yours.

Memphisjourney2seramas - sounds good! Lemme know & we'll coordinate it.

Fuzzy - I've got a call into my buddy to see if a screen & the press are available. We'll have to come up with a design & hope the owners of this site don't mind us doing a little advertising for them.

itsredcandy - Great start on it, that coop is going to be AWESOME!

sonoran- you are making me feel guilty about not bring my kids. Maybe I will be the other mother screaming at her kids at the show. I will be smart and bring the 2 kids stroller. Also what time on saturday is the Table top serama show? I for sure don't want to miss that!

Ok, Memphis, and Pastry, the three of us can meet up and go together, that way we won't feel like the only lunatic mothers out there!

Seriously, is the show, kid friendly? As in the oldest of my FIVE children is 6, and i'd have a double stroller, the side by side kind=doesn't go down narrow isles very well. MAYBE, I can talk DH into going.

Well I just talked it over with the family and it looks like we will be going on the 11th.

My son's game is even an earlier one at 8 so we will get there at a decent time. Looking forward to meeting a lot of you and putting faces to the avatars.

Thanks for the info SS.

Okay. I'm officially nuts. I've been looking at how to set up a webcam so I can check on chicks and still go to the show on the 11th.

I'd truly forgotten how chickens and all the different breeds can be so much fun and so interesting. Here's how my clutch (due on the 11th) is doing:

The 14 BCM's I have no idea. They are so dark. I can see a darker area in the top 2/3 rds of the eggs but that's it
All 12 of the Whole Foods eggs, marked fertile, failed to start.
5 of the 12 EE's from a friends flock have little chickies moving around, the other 7 never started (she only has 2 roo's and lots of hens
8 of the 12 Trader Joes eggs have little kicking babies going.

And I have a pre-order of 12 Swedish Flower eggs coming the week of the 13th!! I'm still looking for some nice Cuckoo Marans eggs and I think I'm leaning towards some lavender Orps too.

Depending on how the hatch goes, I hope to actually meet some of you on the 11th
