Mine did that too when they got in to the sunlight.Chicken behavior: I am assuming these are normal, please help me understand. The chick I thought was a rooster based on the feathering/coloring and suggestions from the Breed/Sex forum is dusting. Do baby ( 3.5 weeks) roosters dust? Also, I put in a new light in the brooder with the 3.5 week olds and they are acting strangely. They are laying on their side and opening a wing and putting their claws in front of them as if they are sun bathing. Then another chick will come up and kick out the chick that was laying there and do the same thing. It's almost like they are playing dead or something. It's really strange. I am only 3.5 weeks (5 weeks of reading) into the whole chicken hobby, so please forgive me. My husband thinks I've fallen off my rocker. I told him I am ready to retire and move to a farm. I am 37, no chance of retiring unless I win the lottery.
Thanks in Advance

Someone here said it was perfectly normal and they go into a kind of a trance when they do the dust bath thing.
