Arizona Chickens

Hey Mikey!

Look who I found in the nest box today. I guess she really was ready to lay.

She is my best layer yet. I am guessing she is an Easter Egger LOL ( now if my girls really laid that many at a time, I'd be rich)

Hazel my SS wasn't too thrilled about this newcomer getting her own B.O.S.S.

Phoebe (front-CM) and Millie (BSL) weren't too sure either!

I really like the design that Arpey posted, because of how it plays off of the Arizona flag, so that one has my vote.

For people who are looking for plum trees, my mom reported seeing some for sale at Costco for $20. She said they also had tangerines, mandarin oranges, kumquats, peaches and Meyer lemons.

Chicken behavior: I am assuming these are normal, please help me understand. The chick I thought was a rooster based on the feathering/coloring and suggestions from the Breed/Sex forum is dusting. Do baby ( 3.5 weeks) roosters dust? Also, I put in a new light in the brooder with the 3.5 week olds and they are acting strangely. They are laying on their side and opening a wing and putting their claws in front of them as if they are sun bathing. Then another chick will come up and kick out the chick that was laying there and do the same thing. It's almost like they are playing dead or something. It's really strange. I am only 3.5 weeks (5 weeks of reading) into the whole chicken hobby, so please forgive me. My husband thinks I've fallen off my rocker. I told him I am ready to retire and move to a farm. I am 37, no chance of retiring unless I win the lottery.

Thanks in Advance
