Some NYD Hatch chicks. SFHs on top and top left. White one is the SWA X TJ leghorn
Blue one is an olive egger. SWA X FBCM. The others are Icelandics.

The love the broccoli out of my garden. All but three in this pic are Icelandics.

I hatched the SLW at Easter. Still hasn't laid an egg.

OK Peepers!

This is an official notification that the economic recession and bad chicken juju are OVER!

It is peeper central at Mikey's house. Ideal did screw up and did not send males for warmth, just made a circular nest out of the bedding material. And while there were two chickies trapped between the nesting material and the cardboard box, and one was half alive, my dad picked up the chicks, bought a bunch of supplies (while I was at school), fixed up the brooder and saved it's life!

Also...

One Dot did it again! That's egg #4 - 3 eggs in 3 days! Boy I'm sure glad we didn't eat her!

And as a side bonus, I've got the cutest Welsummer on the planet!

And of course I'll mention that my mom took first place in the master's division at the AZ gourd festival!

Here's to a good start for the weekend!

I do believe she is giving you the "love" eye ;)

so the brown guys look like welsummer chicks?

They did when they were new a week ago, but not so much anymore. Mine have no dappling and a definite chipmunk stripe down their back.

Ohh, the heck with it, I'm gonna go take a pict...

OK, I'm back. Compare her to the stores picts.

My beautiful chickie:

Shopper's quite cute but not quite as beautiful chickes:

The colors are all pretty close except for the half sleeve Navy.

Heather sapphire
Turquoise
Indigo blue

I was leaning towards black ink which would show up well on the lighter colors but not on the navy.

Possibly yellow ink???

And NO! You can't have sparkly ink!!!

Mahnori- glad it is still alive.

Mama hen- cool cupcakes. and so excited for the lav. that means mine should be laying soon. I have it seperated with the lav roo and 3 other buff orps too and I am going to start incubating eggs soon.

Mikey- what is shoppers number and I will try to find out what the chicks are. Also good job calling higley. I was the one that called this morning. I will try to copy and paste the article about oxine. it kills every virus known and it also helps keep the slime build up in waterers down.

Sounds egg-citing about little lavs.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a type of vine to grow around my run. I use a 6 x 14 chain link fence dog run as a run for my 4 chickens. I wanted to grow vines that will grow up the fencing. What vines would be good here in the valley that won't be poisonous or harmful if/when the chickens eat them. Thanks!

Grapes, passion flower, hardenbergia, sweet pea, gourds, peas, beans, bower vine, ...
