Ok Mikey:
Some pics of my set up:
View from my patio door
Baby gate keeps them off the patio most of the time. It can get ugly at times!
View from the coop
Back side of the grow out nursery. I have a bamboo shade attached if it gets too sunny.
This is the set up. Dh added a patio cover for the big girls so they can have shade.
I had this great idea to use the top half for a growout/integration area.
It is about 5' x 4'. Enough room for my 5 babies. Have double doors for easy clean out.
Added a sheet of vinyl flooring for easy clean up on the floor and also on the outside of the coop.
Added left over plexiglass to the bottom outer portion of their open area. Keeps the shavings in and
little heads away from any interested doggies.

Updated the big girls coop. Got rid of the poop board and added FRP to the walls.
Much easier to keep clean. I scoop the poop every morning and wipe down the walls
if needed.

OK - I'm doing it!
I put a second heat lamp in the grow out pen.
The 4 week olds and the 6 week olds seem to be getting along well.
They are all going into the pen tonight.
No more peepers in the house!
Pastry - if you're out there keep in mind that my grow out pen is only around 4 x 4 and there is no room for me to sleep in there with the chickies!

I never said I didn't want those Wellies!
Of course I do silly!
I'm just going to have to sleep with them when they show up.
that coop is really nice it looks like a chicken mansion![]()
One of our 2 (maybe 3 at most) day old EEs is SOOO AGGRESSIVE!!!She (was supposed to be sexed female, but you know how that goes) was going after our ducklings' feet like crazy (had to separate the chicks from the ducklings for this reason) and I kept flicking her away from the ducklings feet! I mean, after the first 10 times of swatting her away from the ducklings feet, I flicked her harder and harder (not too hard though) and she just kept coming back and coming back. She never even paused, she just tumbled a bit (I wasn't very rough) and instantly zipped back at the ducklings feet as if nothing had happened. After that incident, later that day, she was in her chick brooder inside the chicken coop. Small bird wire (pretty sturdy stuff) separates the adults and the chicks, so they can see each other all the time. 3 large pullets were investigating the chicks. The same aggressive EE tried to fly up as high as she could, and tried to spur the bigger pullets!! She actually tried to fight the bigger pullets through the wire! I was like..... *speechless* Do 2 day old pullets do that?? *low whistle* I never seen such a thing...![]()
