have you been collecting your blrw eggs from the non broody? i may have another broody bw ameraucana. kicked her out of the box twice today. sooooooooo, if you have and she does go broody, i can stick them under her for you if you want. kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak. plus, you don't want to keep putting eggs under yours or they will hatch on different days and that's just not what you want. she can cover probably 8, being her first time.

Thank you! Yesterday my broody was sitting on two eggs, today, 4. So they both laid today and she took them both. I can definitely collect the rest for your broody if you want. Is there any way to tell if they are fertile without cracking them open? And what would be the proper way to store them until I can get them to you? How long will the hens be fertile? Oh there I go again with the questions. sorry.

Hens are fertile for about 3 weeks without another visit from the rooster.
Right now it's cool enough I've been sitting the eggs inside in a cool place until I'm ready to put them in the incubator. Technically they should be at 60 degrees and in a turner until you are ready to incubate. I put 18 in a week ago that were just in a cool place in an egg carton without turning (they sat for 7 days in the coolest room of the house) and all have veins and babies today. I probably would have kept them on a turner if I had thought about it since I have two.

just make sure you store them pointy side down. keep collecting! let me make sure that hen is going to sit. those ameraucanas of mine get a little flighty and crazy. she can sit on fake eggs until the end of the week so you can collect a decent number and make sure she will sit. she sure was acting like it today, dino noises and everything! oh, mark the eggs under your broody so that when she steals a new one, you know which one it is and to take it right away.

OK PEEPS! on the 19th i have babies due to hatch. the fireman is going to take away my plug to the bator if these chicks are not sold. no, i am NOT kidding and yes, he bought it for me for my birthday. silly man thought it would sit there unused

i have candled and i am hoping to have quite a few babies(but not as many as Dar is gonna hatch for Easter!)

FBCMs
Wellies
EEs - saw the flock, they are all white with some beige under a white roo, eggs are all green..not the colors of the typical hatchery partridge like EEs. hers are very pretty!

mikey and memphis have first dibs on the wellies. i will post when hatching begins, i will be home that whole week as it is spring break.
