Aurorarose, My sister Denise can get the eggs for me on tuesday march 13th about 7:15- 7:30 pm in Tempe if you can meet her at the Frys at Rural/Southern. Call me 623-388-1329. Hope it can workout.

I am not sure that is pretty late. I have 2 very young girls who are in bed at that time. I live in apache junction. Is she going east at all? hmmm have to see if hubby is working or not..

Well so far we've got 11 hatched, 6 with pips, and 4 with nothing. 3 of the 4 with nothing going on are the Wheaten Marans/ CC Marans.

Oh well, still plenty of time. Lo and behold guess what arrived in the mail today..... 7 turkey eggs. I guess that crazy ol' uncle meant what he said. Unfortunately I guess that will take me out of the Easter hatch; unless I get or build another incubator.....Hmmmmmm.

OK PEEPS! on the 19th i have babies due to hatch. the fireman is going to take away my plug to the bator if these chicks are not sold. no, i am NOT kidding and yes, he bought it for me for my birthday. silly man thought it would sit there unused

i have candled and i am hoping to have quite a few babies(but not as many as Dar is gonna hatch for Easter!)

EEs - saw the flock, they are all white with some beige under a white roo, eggs are all green..not the colors of the typical hatchery partridge like EEs. hers are very pretty!

mikey and memphis have first dibs on the wellies. i will post when hatching begins, i will be home that whole week as it is spring break.

If Mahonri doesn't have a FCBM pullet for me, I'd be interested. I'm expecting chicks on the 29th I think (she started sitting on the 8th). Do you think she'd adopt a 10 day old FCBM chick?

It snowed here last night. It is weird to wake up tp snow on the firstday of spring break. I should be on a beach in a swimsuit, not freezing in warm pajamas!

Hello everyone in AZ! We live in Cave Creek and are the proud new owners of 4 baby chicks. (well not babies anymore, they are 5 weeks old!)

Thought I would share our awesome coop built by our company, The Happy Handyman. It is so nice, I want to move in. We have 3 dogs; Rocky, Bogie, and Bennie. You can see Rocky in the pic. So far they are quite excited about our feathered friends!

I'm 7 pages behind but...

OK , How does a hen steal an egg?

Well in my case, the other Wyandotte laid her egg next to the broody (I think) and the broody scooted that egg underneath her. She was sitting on 2 eggs and the next day she had 4. So she HAD to have "stolen" the other hen's egg.

Happy 10th Anniversary. Hubby and I celebrated our 10th on Feb. 2nd. 2002 must have been a good year to get married!

Sad news here...I had to put my GLW Francesca down today.( actually my vet did it for me) We thought she had impacted crop at first. Did the olive oil and massaging but it never passed through. Then my Vet taught me how to tube her and flush her. Couldn't get much out of her. Took her back to the vet again and both said she needed surgery. (Took out 2 lbs of stuff) They found newspaper??? I dunno where she got that from. They also found grass and cracked corn. Monday was her one week post op check up. She wouldn't eat or drink since this all started. Her crop was full of mucous. Vet got that out. She seemed better on Tuesday but today her crop was full again. In the midst of all this, she was having trouble walking. She hobbled on her hocks. She couldn't stand up at all. At her check up today she just slept most of the visit. She weighed 2lbs. Her comb and wattles were withered and turning a little purplish. We came to the conclusion that she will not get better and I knew that she was ready to go. It was not easy to say good bye. ( that's just me)

one of these days i might read the entire thread but perhaps not, for now i will just say how much i have enjoyed BYC and meeting some of the people on here. i look forward to getting to know some more people in my neck of the woods.
