Arizona Chickens

I would maybe move the other hen out. What happened when I had a broody is that she was in the favorite box and all the hens thought they had to lay there and they would lay egg on top of the other hen and then the would fall and break and slime all the others, I think they eggs got slimed at least three times. It was a total mess.

OK PEEPS! on the 19th i have babies due to hatch. the fireman is going to take away my plug to the bator if these chicks are not sold. no, i am NOT kidding and yes, he bought it for me for my birthday. silly man thought it would sit there unused

i have candled and i am hoping to have quite a few babies(but not as many as Dar is gonna hatch for Easter!)

FBCMs
Wellies
EEs - saw the flock, they are all white with some beige under a white roo, eggs are all green..not the colors of the typical hatchery partridge like EEs. hers are very pretty!

mikey and memphis have first dibs on the wellies. i will post when hatching begins, i will be home that whole week as it is spring break.

Tell the fireman that you need to let the babies grow out a couple or so months to be sure you select the very best few to keep. Tell him that you don't want to accidentally keep all boys

and thus have to hatch out another batch or three (no need to tell him that you plan to do that anyways

I had one I cracked when I candled them. I drizzled candle wax on it and it hatched this past Wednesday just great! I was really surprised.

She got up, I removed the broken egg and took the slime off the others. One of the others was cracked, but not broken. I left it there, should I remove that one, too. She had 4 yesterday, this broken one made 5. So she's down to 4 again, and one's cracked.

All four are marked! that's all she has right now, and that's including the cracked one. I've kept her separated from the other hen all day. When she has a chance to go into the yard she does and it seems like she forgets about her nest. I'm not sure how many more eggs I'll get. I'd like to have a clutch of 6 for her.

Ok, I've been doing some reading but am still confused about the turkey eggs. I know some of you have experience with hatching them so I'll ask you all. It's a total of 28 days not 21 right? At the end of day 24 or start of 24 is when the turner stops and the humidity goes up? I thought I was going to be able to throw in some chicken eggs with them but now I'm thinking no.

we hatched turkey eggs in my 4th grade class last year and this year we did duck and goose eggs. I added other eggs to the incubator, I just added them a week later. I only raised the humidity to 70% but still had them hatch out.
